2004-2005

  • Scoring 4 goals against Bradford at home and still losing
  • Winning three away games in a row
  • Reaching automatic promotion spot in November and hardly leaving it until...

2003-2004 - A Little change

  • Hi-hopes shaken after David Kelly walks out over summer
  • After 1st game of the season, failing to win any of the next 10 league games.
  • Mathias sacked and John McMahon made caretaker ending in three defeats in a row.
  • Brian Little instated and Rovers only lose 2 in the following 24 games.
  • Hume's amazing goals beating Bolton away at the Reebok, and then Swansea to reach the FA Quarter Finals for the 3rd time in 5 years.
  • Drawing against Millwall at The Den live on BBC 1.
  • Two sublime goals from Dadi and Hume in thrashing Nottingham County 4-0
  • Beating Bournemouth 5-1 in joint best-ever away win.
  • Losing 4 in a row, then winning 7 out of the next 9 to finish agonisingly close to the playoffs... again.
  • Relegating Grimsby in the last match of the season having been a goal down. Hume equalised, then Sharps was sent off before Dadi scored the winner.

2002-2003 - A remarkable year - Click to see season breakdown

  • New England-World-Cup-Style Kit.
  • Humiliated in two pre-season friendlies by new Premiership clubs Man City & Birmingham.
  • Dave Watson kicked out before the first game of the season & Ray Mathias instated.
  • Jason Koumas starting the season for Rovers, by mid season had scored for West Brom against Man United.
  • Earnshaw equalising in the 94th minute to give Cardiff a point and ultimately give them our playoff spot.
  • The man on the roof.
  • 6 goalkeepers used.
  • End of season, letting go of Barlow, Parkinson and Hinds.
  • Doing the double over 8 teams, a new club record.

  • 80 points equal to Rovers best ever tally for a season.

2001-2002 - A Year that failed to deliver

  • First season in Division 2.
  • Dave Watson.
  • The Yellow Away Kit.
  • Free-scoring games beating Wrexham 5-0, Blackpool 4-0, Cambridge 6-1.
  • A steady climb up the table, to reach the playoffs at new year, then fell away.
  • Not doing the double over a single team.
  • At the end of the season losing Hill, Yates, Challinor, Allison, Flynn, Murphy and others.

2000-2001 - The end of an era

  • Beating Premiership Everton 0-3 at Goodison in the FA Cup.
  • Coming from 0-2 down to beat Leeds 3-2 in the Worthington Cup.
  • One of the greatest FA Cup comebacks ever, coming from 0-3 down to beat Premiership Southampton 4-3.
  • Playing Liverpool in the FA Cup and feeling hard-done-by at the loss.
  • Great cup form, terrible league form.
  • Having been 2-0 up against Barnsley and losing 2-3, Aldo walks out.
  • Religation.

1999-2000 - The Road To Wembley

  • Beating Premiership West Ham in the FA Cup
  • Beating Premiership Sunderland in the FA Cup
  • Thrashing Premiership Coventry 5-1 in the Worthington Cup
  • Beating Premiership Middlesborough 2-1 and Andy Parkinson scoring that goal in the Worthington Cup
  • Beating Bolton in the Worthington Cup Semi Final Second Leg to go to Wembley
  • Worthing Cup Final at Wembley
  • Having been bottom of the division in October, managed to finish mid-table.
