Tranmere News Archive 2003 - 2004
8 May - Tranmere 2-1 Grimsby - Tranmere relegate Grimsby having come from behind thanks to Hume, with Dadi scoring the winner after Tranmere were reduced to 10 men. A thrilling end to the season.
7 May - Theodore Whitmore to sign - This creative midfielder seems to be Mellon's replacement. He's scored two dozen goals as a Jamaican international and played for Hull and Livingstone.
7 May - Beresford, Goodison, Haworth sign - All three sign one-year deals to stay at Tranmere. Haworth is on target for an October/November return. Only 4 more players needed to put pen to paper.
6 May - Players Offered Contracts - Little wants to keep Iain Goodison, Gareth Roberts, Paul Hall, David Beresford, Eugene Dadi and Simon Haworth. Dadi's thoughts are on the division above.
6 May - Allen, Connelly, Nicholson, Hay Released Little doesnt have a place for them, citing potential friction as a factor and the fact he believes they would be 2nd choice to players he's bringing in.
Mickey Mellon likely to leave Tranmere
5 May - Mellon Leaving - As has been strongly suspected for some time, Mickey Mellon is almost certain to leave Tranmere over the summer. He's been offered a year's contract but hasn't agreed to sign.
Tranmere Target Barry Conlon
5 May - Conlon a target - Tranmere looking to sign Darlington striker Barry Conlon over the summer although other clubs are interested. The Irish U21 international & former Man City man scored 13 this season.
Brian Little
3 May - Little Manager of the Month for April - Brian Little is finally rewarded for his remarkable turnaround of Tranmere's fortunes. 16 points from 18 and the previous month's FA Cup have delighted all.
Port Vale
30 Apr - Port Vale 2-1 Tranmere - In the last away match of the season Tranmere fought hard to spoil Port Vale's party but despite Paul Hall's goal, Vale got the win they needed in stoppage time.
24 Apr - Tranmere 2-0 Barnsley - After Harrison missed a hatful, a stunning bicycle kick from Hume put Rovers ahead before he played in Ryan Taylor to give Rovers a 7th win in a 9-game unbeaten run.
23 Apr - Little Commits Future - Brian Little today signed a 3 year contract that reflects the club's happiness with him taking Tranmere from relegation in October to near the playoffs and the FA Cup quarter finals.
23 Apr - New Vandanel Kit- Tranmere sign new 2 year deal with Essex Kit-makers Vandanel who previously supplied Fulham, Port Vale and others. This ends the 4-year deal with Xara but Wirral sponsor remains.
23 Apr - Linwood operation - Defender Paul Linwood has finally succumbed to the stomach problem that has seen him out of first team action for weeks. His operation now will mean he starts pre-season training.
17 Apr - Bournemouth 1-5 - Tranmere's crushing victory is their best away win in 28 years as Jones scores twice while both Hall and Beresford open their Rovers account. It also gives a positive goal difference!
12 Apr - Wycombe 1-2 - Dadi's brace summed up Rover's first-half dominance but Wycombe staged a second half comeback to at least stop Tranmere getting their 7th clean sheet in a row.
3 Apr - Wrexham 0-1 - Ian Sharps' first goal since Mar 03 makes Tranmere's 2nd away win of the season. It takes Rovers closer to the playoffs than to the relegation zone - temporarily at least.
New Tranmere Ground at Cammell Lairds?
31 Mar - New Ground? - Cammell Lairds Water Front Park submits pre-planning for a new 12,000 seat ground for Tranmere Rovers, a 5000 seat arena, ski dome, apartments, hotels, and transport interchange.
Nottingham County
27 Mar - Notts County 4-0 - Tranmere hammer Nottingham in a game that produced a brace each from both Dadi and substitute Hume. New signing Hall had a great shot saved, as did Navarro.
Tranmere's Paul Hall
25 Mar - Signing Hall- Tranmere sign another Jamaican international, Paul Hall. He is a wide player but scored 16 in 36 games last year. Meanwhile Onoura has been released and James Olsen also gone.
John Achterberg
24 Mar - Bristol 1-0 - Tranmere finally get 3 points. Rovers out-played Bristol City who failed to produce a single Achterberg save. Allen hit the bar twice and with one kicked off the line 4-0 would not have flattered.
Gareth Roberts
17 Mar - International Call Up - Tranmere's Gareth Roberts gets international call up. Roberts will fly out with the Welsh squad after Tranmere's Notts Forest match for the match in Hungary on the 31st March.
16 Mar - Tranmere 1-2 Millwall - Another good cup show, but not good enough. Jones' goal gave hope, but Dadi missed his chance to take Rovers into the FA cup semis. Attention back on league survival.
Danny Harrison
13 Mar - Chesterfield 3-2 - Tranmere lose again. The last time Tranmere lost 4 league games in a row was the year of relegation. Without a win in 6 games and with half the teams below still to play, things are bleak.
07 Mar - Millwall 0-0 Tranmere - A strong and convincing performance gave the travelling Superwhite Army plenty to sing about but the highlight of the afternoon was of course Achterberg's penalty save.
John Achterberg
03 Mar - Injury - John Achterberg injured during warm up before the Swindon game and might not be fit enough to play against Millwall on Saturday. Russell Howarth made some encouraging saves during the game.
Brian Little
28 Feb - Rumour - Brian Little has supposedly been approached by Oldham for manager's job. Its also worryingly reported that Little is only on a month-to-month contract at Tranmere
Iffy Onuora

Iffy Onuora
25 Feb - Rumour - Iffy Onuora said to joining Tranmere Rovers. He's currently with Grimsby who are supposedly keen on getting him off their books. He's certainly experienced.
Ian Goodison
20 Feb - Signing - Ian Goodison signed as new central defender. He played for Little at Hull and paid his own air fare from Jamaica and hotel bills to keep himself training with Tranmere til he earned a contract.
Ian Goodison
3 Feb - Rumour - Its rumoured that Jamaican international Ian Goodison has been Training with Tranmere Rovers and that the only delay in him signing is trouble with a work permit.
